Countdown to WWE TLC 2012: 3 days

Match of the Night: Hardy Boyz vs Dudley Boyz (Elimination Tables Match)

This contest was billed as the first ever Elimination Tables match in the history of the WWE. Back then, the Hardy Boyz, the Dudley Boyz and Edge & Christian (E&C) had just started their legendary triangle rivalry that would last for two years. This match was the first major encounter between the two tag teams. A few months prior, the Hardy Boyz had turned face again by leaving the Gangrel led faction The New Brood after winning a Ladder match at No Mercy 1999, thus winning $100,000 and getting Terri Runnels as their manager. Their victory came at the expense of E&C, which enabled them to kick off the rivalry.

The following night on Raw Is War, the mutual respect and sportsmanship between the two teams came to an end when the Dudley Boyz attacked the Hardy Boyz. A Triple Threat match for the WWF Tag Team Championship’s #1 Contender spot saw D-Von Dudley defeat Jeff Hardy and Edge to face and lose to the New Age Outlaws (Roadd Dogg and Billy Gunn) at No Way Out 2000. This whole rivalry would culminate in a Triple Threat Ladder match at Wrestlemania 2000 and, later on, to two of the most epic TLC matches in WWE history; the first took place at SummerSlam 2000, whereas the second was scheduled for WrestleMania X7.

That’s it for tonight! I hope that you enjoyed this first entry. Make sure you come back tomorrow night for the PW2C Countdown (Day -2). Stay tuned!
